It is with great pleasure that we invite you to attend “Create + Innovate: A Conversation on Disruption and Entrepreneurship.” Join Jason Mayden, Former Nike Design Director and Global Innovation Director, as he leads a discussion that will inspire entrepreneurs, young and old.

This free event will be held on the University of Texas Campus on Saturday, March 17th from 1:00 pm — 3:00 pm. Students will have the opportunity to participate in dialogue with Jason and learn how he founded his own start-up after working with Nike for over 13 years.

Now CEO + Co-Founder of SuperHeroic, Jason is a mission to inspire creativity through the power of play.

About our keynote speaker:

Jason Mayden, a Chicago native, was Jordan Brand’s first design intern. He climbed his way up the ranks to become the brand’s lead designer. While at Nike Jason created products for Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook, Derek Jeter and, of course, Michael Jordan. He also helped launched Steph Curry’s app, Slyce.

After a 13 year career at Nike and Jordan Brand, Mayden set out on a new path following a conversation with his then seven-year-old son, who was crying because of his weight issues. Mayden quit Nike and began working on Super Heroic — a brand that is reinventing the way children play through sneakers and apparel.

With the backing of investors in Silicon Valley and Magic Johnson, the company created its first-ever performance shoe, the TMBLR V1, which was designed specifically for the playground.

Currently, Jason is an advisor, d.Fellow and Media Designer at the Hasso Plattner Institute of Design at Stanford University, a frequent lecturer at Stanford University’s prestigious Graduate School of Business and an advisory board member to his undergraduate alma mater, the College for Creative Studies.

Mayden is also at Accel Partners assisting with the continuous development of Accel’s brand position amongst the global community of investors and entrepreneurs while working with portfolio companies on deepening and extending their knowledge and ability to create cultures of curiosity.
